Carthage Power Company (CPC), formed by the consortium BTU Ventures and Marubeni, is the first private power producer in Tunisia. It is a pioneer in this area and has set the grounds for future privatizations in Tunisia and the MENA area. A country, that wants to be present on the international scene, must create a competitive economic environment, both robust and flexible at the same time to prepare the market in overcoming the international challenges. The advent of CPC in Tunisia is a living proof that a well-managed privatization can be beneficial for the country in terms of competitiveness, technical progress and innovation. More than that, the opening to free competition constitutes an economic leverage for growth.
The raison d'être of CPC is to meet the expectations of Tunisia in terms of reliability in the production of electricity.
